Lone Wolf Cabin

It's time to start thinking about booking your fall getaway to secure your prime time!

A unique off the grid experience, there really is nothing quite like it.

Described as "A Hidden Gem"

With a wood fired Japanese Ofuro soaking tub

The cabin sleeps four and is ideally suited for a couple or small family. You have the option of renting the yurt which can accommodate two more. The yurt is an authentic beautiful, romantic, 19 foot yurt completly furnished with queen bed

The real Canadian experience, an authentic darling little 600 square foot log cabin in the middle of the woods by a tiny lake off the grid. The cabin was built on site from white pine logs that were cut within 500’of the cabin. The cabin comes fully equipped. Power is supplied by the sun. Two solar panels and 6 batteries supply enough power for your lights, music. There is a backup generator if the sun is not co-operating.

The Kitchen is 7 by 11, with a small 4 burner propane stove and oven and a mid size propane fridge with tiny freezer. There is gravity fed running cold water at the sink and above the sink is a gravity fed water filter system for drinking water. All your spices, sugar, salt, oil, etc. are in the cupboards, lots of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, almost everything you would have at your home. The kitchen opens up to the back deck where you will find the BBQ and firewood.

The main part of the cabin is 16' by 14', has a couch, oak table and chairs, wood stove and lots of games and books. There is a djembe drum and guitar as well as an ipod player and radio. Quaint decor and attention to detail. It is cozy, romantic and just amazing.

There is a steep ladder/stairs leading upstairs to a large loft that has cathedral ceiling, skylight and lots of windows. There is a queen sized bed pine floors and desk, amoir and check of drawers.

The back room serves as both a mudroom and small bedroom with a pull down double bed. This room opens up to a side deck where the 2 person wood fired cedar soaking tub is.There is an inside toilet for pee pee only, sink and shower done with a natural marble, painted lakeside background. All of our systems are unique in different seasons. The outhouse is a work of art and not far from the cabin.

The lake is very small with pike, perch and catfish in it… apparently there is that elusive big one that got away. There is a swim raft in the middle of the lake, a inflatable island, a couple of canoes, paddle boat and rowboat. There is a 40' white rock beach that goes out about 8' then drops to about 8'. Enjoy bonfires by the waters edge or sit in the wood fired hot tub and star gaze. We have trails that we are slowly developing on 230 acres for hiking in the summer. In the winter enjoy skiing/snowshoeing on the trails or skating on the natural ice rink, weather permitting.

In the summer depending on weather conditions there may be a small salad garden with a variety of greens that you are welcome to harvest for yourselves as well as various herbs scattered throughout the property.

Pets, yes we allow pets that have been treated with a flea product and well behaved. This guarentees that we can continue to allow pets.

Getting There

We are 20 minutes from Gatineau & 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa. In the summer you come to our home. One of us will go with you to the cabin which is a mile from the house (Owls Nest) and drive through the locked gate to the trailhead (1 1/2 km). You then take Gina the electric golfcart to help bring your things in or pull the cart (stuff bus) with your things the 0.4 km to the lake edge and then canoe or row 300' across the small lake to the cabin.

In the winter you park at Owls Nest which is 2 km away and we take you to the cabin via skidoo on a packed trail, or you could walk, snowshoe or ski in. To walk the packed trail would take about 35 minutes. When you are ready to leave the cabin, give us a call and we will pick you up. Part of the winter rental is delivering you to the door, setting the fire for you in the morning before you arrive to take the chill out, as well as filling up the wood fired hot tub and setting the fire if you so desire.

You would be all alone, in a log cabin by a crackling fire in the middle of the woods by the lakes edge..........in a wood fired hot tub.... now how perfect is that!!!
