Welcome to Owl's Nest cottage
rental. We are situated on 6 acres amidst many acres of rolling
forested land in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec
on a small quiet lake. You are sitting up on
the side of a hill with a magnificent view of the
lake and 400 ft from the
shore. There is a dock where you can relax on
an Adirondack chairs and watch the wildlife and birds
all around you.
There is a canoe for your
enjoyment which will also take you out to the
swimming raft away from the natural
weedy shoreline. There are trails on
the property for you to enjoy. While at Owl's
Nest you can also enjoy the city
of Ottawa/Gatineau which is only a 30 minute drive away. We are
open all year for you to enjoy any season.
There is satellite TV as well as a DVD player & movies. We also have a wireless satellite internet connection for you. Bring your favorite CD's
We are surrounded by hills, trees and trails. The snow-mobile trails make wonderful walking paths. There are four downhill ski resorts within a half hour drive. With over two hundred and fifty acres of lakefront, stream, hills and forest, it is the ideal spot for anyone interested in bird watching or tracking. Marked trails throughout. Dog sledding is available nearby.
In the summer you can canoe, hike and swim off of the swimming raft in the lake. There is a canoe for your use. There are two life jackets included, but because life jackets are a personal thing please bring your own. No sandy beaches....the lake is a mud bottom lake with weeds on the shoreline where the wildlife abounds. In June and part of July you will hear a symphony of bull frogs. There are no motor boats on the lake, adding to the peace and tranquility. No loud noise or parties after 10 pm please.
The village of Perkins is only 3 miles away where you will find a couple of basic local restaurants, or you can pick up some prepared food and a bottle of wine/beer/liquor at the local grocer's deli, then bring it back to the lake to enjoy. There is a BBQ & extra tank for your use.
The focus point of Owl's Nest is the magnificent central fieldstone fireplace with woodstove inserts at both ends.
At the cottage there is a large screened in porch and deck for you to enjoy the view.
Rental Contract Will be emailed or faxed to you to be filled in and signed.
